Alton’s Anna Chaplaincy spring event

Alton’s Anna Chaplain, Kate Powell, recently sent news of this lovely event. Thank you, Kate!

The Alton Lions kindly gifted Anna Chaplaincy a grant to hold a series of community events for older people in Alton. The spring event (which took place last month) was the fourth of its kind and a lovely afternoon was had by all!

We used the Alton Methodist Church as our venue and set it up with craft tables, bric-a-brac stalls and hand massage stations as well as reserving a large area for older people to chat with an Anna Friend. Just before moving into the hall for a delicious homemade afternoon tea, we were treated to a piano recital and quiz by Jackie Stone, a curate from Farnborough who has been shadowing the Anna Chaplain in Alton as part of her training. Donations received by the 50 older people who attended means there is enough funding to run a similar style event at Christmas which we are already looking forward to!
