We look forward eagerly each year to Southampton's Refresh and Resource Day which often 'feels like a mini-gathering of the Anna Chaplaincy network' (writes Debbie Thrower).
This year's theme is Resilient Compassion and booking is now open if you'd like to attend on Monday, May 19. I'm delighted to have been asked to speak about 'Self-care and boundaries' - and will be exploring the importance of caring for ourselves, especially if we are carers, or volunteers/professionals engaged in ministering among older people.
The Southampton charity Caraway and its team of Anna Chaplains are organising a wonderful day for us all when we can meet and chat to one another while engaging in myriad activities and workshops relevant to the main topic.
It takes place at Highfield Church in the city. A donation of £30 is suggested to take part which includes lunch and refreshments. Book your place by emailing jo.ladkin@caraway.uk.com
The Caraway charity was founded by Erica Roberts, Southampton City Chaplain for Older People and one of the very first member of the Anna Chaplaincy network. Caraway offers chaplaincy and dementia services for older people in Southampton. The annual Refresh and Resource gatherings draw people from far and wide - from across the South and West and the Midlands - who share a passion to see better care for people in later life.
'It's a marvellous way to keep in touch with old friends and colleagues and be introduced to new ideas, make fresh connections and generally be inspired! I very much hope to see you there on May 19.'
Debbie Thrower, Founder and Pioneer of Anna Chaplaincy for Older People
