Anna Chaplaincy is one of several Christian charities that have joined together to form CTAL, Christian Together Against Loneliness - working to combat loneliness in all is forms. The group want to inspire, equip and mobilise churches, and the individuals who are part of them, to alleviate the loneliness in their local communities, and to demonstrate how we each have a part to play.
At the most recent meeting, a whole range of resources were discussed, that we thought were worth passing on, for example:
Linking Lives continue to offer their ‘Good Conversations’ online training course, suitable for volunteers in a range of contexts where connection and conversation is key. The upcoming courses in December 2024 and January 2025 are free right now! https://linkinglives.uk/what-we-do/good-conversations/
Faith in Later Life are running their winter campaign again, ‘Love My Neighbour’: why not take a look at this video, and see what you might be able to offer in your community? https://faithinlaterlife.org/love-my-neighbour/
Befriended, a charity set up in mid Sussex by Anna Chaplain Gail Millar, has developed a wonderful short course for those who have suffered loss or bereavement of any kind. ‘Compassionate Conversations’ is a simple, effective tool that might help individuals to explore their bereavement experience, with the help of a trained facilitator.
The Salvation Army offer a range of resources to support ministry among older people and to combat social isolation. ‘No-one Alone’ offers stories and resources to help local churches and communities to consider their response.
Anna Chaplaincy offers Easy Guides relevant to loneliness that are free to download and share. Also, Grief Conversations, is a guide to knowing what to say to someone who is mourning a loved one. It is also free to download. https://www.annachaplaincy.org.uk/grief-conversations
Do make sure your own churches and pastoral visitors know about all these practical and helpful resources.
