Edinburgh-based charity, Faith in Older People is offering 'One Step at a Time' - a resource to help churches improve support for people living with dementia.
Director Maureen O'Neill explains that is an audit method for churches to assess how they are doing in relation to understanding, environment, people and pastoral care.
It is interactive, with quizzes and a range of short films providing the perceptions of those experiencing dementia, as well as the views of carers, and church ministers. Maureen suggests, 'it could be done individually but is much better undertaken as a group.'
Find out more at the website. Later this year FiOP will be holding a seminar to generate further discussion. The resource updates a previous version downloaded some 500 times across the world after it was presented to the 2018 International Conference on Ageing and Spirituality held in Australia.
The new interactive on-line resource is free and was first published in May this year. 'It could be seen as complementary to a course recently launched by Embracing Age (writes Debbie Thrower) and publicised in a blog earlier this summer.
