Julia Slade has been a long-standing member of our network and many will know her from our annual Gatherings and regular Get Togethers online. On Sunday March 23 Julie was commissioned at All Saints Church, Faringdon - in Oxfordshire's Vale of the White Horse - for her ministry as an Anna Chaplain. Julie was previously an Anna Chaplain near Petersfield, in Hampshire before her move- in the village of Sheet. She's written to tell us about what's led to this point in her ministry:
‘Choosing to leave nursing, I was recruited as Chaplain to Older People in our previous church. I was licensed as an Anna Chaplain and was supported strongly with continual background training and fellowship by BRF Ministries, which organises Anna Chaplaincy nationally. I have now lived in Faringdon for 18 months and was very recently licensed as Faringdon’s Anna Chaplain, managed by All Saints.
A team from All Saints is visiting local care homes, going into both Ferendune Court and Coxwell Hall to take services once a month. We hope to visit between services also, as many of the folk do not have visitors.
Currently, we also run a community café once a month for drinks and cake; it is also an opportunity to spend time chatting with others. I am looking forward to recruiting more volunteers to join the teams locally.’
