We're delighted that on Sunday February 2, 2025. Jo-Anne Newton was commissioned as an Anna Chaplain at a special Joint Service of Holy Communion for Candlemas at Holy Trinity Church, Fareham.
As well as being a new Anna Chaplain, Jo-Anne is the curate at Holy Trinity with St Columba, Fareham in the Portsmouth Diocese.
'I am very much looking forward to working as an Anna Chaplain. In particular, I hope, with the support and prayers of our parish, to grow the ministry into more care homes in Fareham by recruiting more Anna Chaplains and Anna Friends. I sense a call to bring God’s love to those who may feel that they are losing their connection with their faith and their church as they age.'
Jo-Anne preached at the service on the work of Anna Chaplaincy and encouraged others to join in the ministry.
Jo-Anne was supported by Emma Sneddon, the Anna Chaplaincy Coordinator for the Diocese of Portsmouth and Margaret Chappell, the Lead Anna Chaplain in Fareham Deanery and the Revd Dr Sam Cullen commissioned her.
