New chaplain for a part of Southampton with the highest concentration of older people

Revd Tom Boulter minister of Lord’s Hill Church, Revd Dave Hendra Chaplain for Dementia Care, with Anna Chaplains - Esther , Susan, Lynne, Sally, Juliette, and Margaret, Juliette's Pastor Funmi Asaolu, and Caroline, a supporter

Southampton West area has the largest demographic of older people living within the whole of Southampton, so the Caraway team are delighted to announce the commissioning of a third Anna Chaplain to the area.

Juliette Hooper was commissioned last month (November 2024) and joins Sally who was commissioned in October, and Margaret who has been working for five years as Anna Chaplain in the area.

Juliette's service was a very ecumenical event at Lord's Hill Church, the base for the Anna Chaplaincy work in Lord's Hill, with the Revd Margaret Hague commissioning Juliette, and the Minister, the Revd Tom Boulter anointing Juliette with oil as the other Anna Chaplains present gathered round, and Juliette's Pastor (Pastor Funmi from her church Christ Embassy Southampton) prayed.

With all three Chaplains, each worshipping at different churches and supporting the different churches within the area, they say, 'it is so encouraging to see how the Lord is moving across all denominations and enabling us to reach out to and come alongside those with a faith, and no faith, in such a needy area of our city.'
