A growing number of Anna Chaplains work alongside social prescribers in their localities, where individuals present at GP surgeries with non-medical needs. Social prescribing plays a vital role in providing practical support for people who are struggling with loneliness, low-level mental health conditions, caring responsibilities and financial issues such as debt.
Faith groups contribute significantly to local social prescribing networks and, with their focus on community, relationship and holistic wellbeing, they can play a foundational role in preventative healthcare by supporting individuals to access the right support early on.
Church Works aim to bring church and Government together for the good of society and social change, with a particular view on supporting the most vulnerable. On Thursday January 30, 2025, Church Works are launching a report, exploring the link between faith and social prescribing. If this already plays a part in your own church ministry, or is being developed, why not consider signing up for this free online event? https://www.churchworks.org.uk/event/faith-and-social-prescribing-launch-event
