I've been visiting the West Country with meetings that included visiting the South West Baptist Association in Exeter, which has more than a hundred churches in the region.
Devon and Cornwall are retirement hotspots as well as having many rural communities lacking transport links and social amenities. I contributed a blog on the Churches Together in Devon website and on their Facebook page dated 15 May.
I also met the Bishop of Exeter, the Right Revd Robert Atwell, author of The Contented Life: Spirituality and the gift of years (SPCK), at his Palace Gatehouse offices near the cathedral.
Bishop Robert said, ‘It was good to be able to talk through things and to hear first-hand of your experience.’ It is hoped the development of a network of Anna Chaplains in the diocese might dovetail into the diocesan vision and priorities.
